Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Roofing Guys ("we", "us", "our") handles personal information collected through this website and in the course of our roofing work in Sunshine Coast to Brisbane, Queensland.

Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), most businesses with an annual turnover of $3 million or less are not currently required to comply with the Australian Privacy Principles.

We have chosen to handle personal information in line with those principles regardless.

Information you give us directly. This website does not have contact forms, booking tools, or payment facilities. If you phone or email us, we may collect and keep your name, phone number, email address, property address, and details about your roof and the work you want done.

Information collected automatically. This website uses GoDaddy's built-in website analytics. This places cookies on your device and collects information including your IP address, approximate location, device and browser type, which pages you viewed, how long you stayed, and which site you came from. This information is not used to identify you personally.

We do not collect sensitive information as defined in the Privacy Act.

We use personal information to respond to your enquiry and provide a quote; carry out roofing work you engage us for; invoice you and keep accounting records; keep records required by Queensland building law and tax law; and understand how our website is used so we can improve it.

We may disclose personal information to our employees and subcontractors carrying out your work; suppliers where materials need to be ordered or delivered; our accountant, insurer, or legal advisers; GoDaddy, which hosts this website and provides its analytics; and government agencies where required by law, including the Queensland Building and Construction Commission and the Australian Taxation Office.

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.

Our website is hosted by GoDaddy, which may store and process data on servers located outside Australia, including in the United States. By using this website you acknowledge that information collected automatically may be handled overseas, and that overseas recipients may not be subject to Australian privacy law.

Cookies are small files stored on your device. This website uses them for the analytics described above. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Doing so will not prevent you from using this website.

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We keep personal information for as long as it is needed for the purposes above, and for as long as we are required to keep it by law.

Tax records must generally be kept for five years. Records relating to building work may need to be kept longer.

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by contacting us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time. If we cannot give you access, we will explain why.

We do not send marketing emails or text messages unless you have asked to receive them. If you have, every message will include a way to unsubscribe, and we will action it promptly.

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, contact us first using the details below and we will try to resolve it.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
